How to Navigate

Layout

The images present all the physical appearances made by the SNL cast divided by episodes and split up by season. You can look at any cast member listed on the right of the screen, presented in chronological order of their departure from the show, or browse through the season labels to look at who was on each year. You can also look up any person using the search bar. To identify the images, wave the cursor over any picture and it will display the coded tags of the actor and their season/episode number along with the date of the show. You can also cross-reference with my other blog, where there’s a corresponding link to at the bottom of each post, that presents the sketch appearances by season in a single image using the resources of the SNL Archives by Joel Navaroli.

Understanding the Code

When tracking appearances per show on these sites, I usually use an identification tag that consists of the initials of the cast member followed by the season and episode number within their tenure. For example, DA203 would be Dan Aykroyd’s second season, third show (or however you prefer to say it), followed by the date of the episode; -10/2/76.

When it’s their last season, a number in parentheses is included counting down from the start of the year to their last show (1). If someone was only on the show for one season, the backwards counter starts during the second half. For a few select people, I split them into two separate posts based on a shift that occurred during their tenures. The final season in their first part includes parentheses counting down to their last regular show (101).

Guest Appearances (GA), are organized together no matter the type. This section generally follow the same rules with all appearances numbered based on cameos (C1) and hosting (H1) and so on depending on the person. In a few early cases appearances made made by cast members before they joined the show are displayed at the top as Pre-Guest Appearances (PGA), and any running numbers continue after they leave and make further guest spots.
